Think Act Relate was built from an understanding that transformation, properly done, irrevocably changes individuals as well as the organisations they work in. Consciously managing that change at the personal and organisational level results in far better outcomes for everyone.

The world needs each of us as individuals to be the best we can be, and needs each organisation to be the best it can be.

That is why I coach individuals and consult to organisations who are undergoing transformation.

Change Consulting

In addition to my coaching work, I am also a senior organisational change manager and capability uplift consultant with experience implementing many large transformational programs for a range of clients in the public and private sectors.

Over the last fifteen years, my focus has been on organisational and cultural transformation designed to promote optimum support and participation from staff. This work has included culture change, ICT project change, leadership development, coaching, communication and training. I have led transformational change programs in Australia and elsewhere, including developing appropriate program governance and process improvement programs. Dancing On Hot Coals is my change management blog.

To effectively transform organisations, it is not unusual for individuals within the organisation to also need assistance to transform themselves. That is why my business interests include both personal and organisational level transformation.

Program/Enterprise Change

Whether implementing a new program which will affect the day-to-day operations of staff and/or implementing fundamental business process change, I have experience with developing strategies to increase successful outcomes. I have worked with many change management models and can adapt to existing methods as required.

Steps for change consulting include:

  • assess existing state
  • understand required state
  • create narrative
  • develop change and implementation strategy
  • create stakeholder engagement plan
  • develop communication and training plans
  • establish feedback mechanisms

Gender equity

One growing area of organisational change is the implementation of gender equity. It has now become well known and understood that gender balance in organisational boards, as well as executive and managerial positions leads to better business performance.

Organisations wishing to make meaningful change need to look beyond simply amending recruitment and promotion policies. I can support organisations to implement the level of organisational and cultural change required to address the many barriers causing gender inequity.

Steps for gender equity consulting include:

  • assess existing levels of equity
  • perform cultural audit
  • assess policies for inherent bias
  • address unconscious bias
  • leadership training
  • assess suitability of quotas
  • determine new targets

If individual coaching is required (this is relatively common when working with gender equity), I have certification and experience helping people to develop the deeper skill sets required to support change.

Bringing two or more organisations together is rarely straightforward. A key factor in determining the eventual success of the merged organisation is the ability of the cultures to coexist and adapt until a new culture emerges. The ability to purposefully shape cultures over time is incredibly rare, and many leaders find that the management skills that brought them to their senior and executive roles are not the same skills that are required to manage deep culture change.

I have consulted on two of the largest Australian federal government mergers that have occurred in the last few years.

A new culture will always emerge: the question is whether it is a desirable culture. Spending effort upfront to deliberately shape that culture can pay enormous productivity dividends.

I have worked in organisational change and personal change for the last 20+ years. Working as a consultant or full-time employee in both corporate and government environments, large and small organisations in the US, Europe and Australia, has given me exposure to many different work cultures. I have worked in senior levels of management leading over 120 staff, as well as being the owner/director of small businesses over several years.

I have actively undertaken a path of personal and spiritual growth since my teenage years, following many roads, all aimed at learning how to be a more capable, peaceful, stronger and happier person. I began my coaching certification in 2009, with a desire to help everyone benefit from a greater understanding of the way we interact with our worlds, and to improve our capacity to make different choices in any given moment.

As a coach, I provide professional and knowledgeable expertise in a safe environment for people to explore your own character and improve the way you move about your world. Think Act Relate coaching gives you increased self knowledge and tools for ongoing self management; both personally and professionally.

Gender issues: individual and team coaching

Many people are struggling with rapidly changing standards and expectations regarding gender issues. If you are keen to improve your understanding of gender issues, including your ability to support and manage women in the workplace, you may benefit from working with a private coach. From a more informed standpoint, you will be able to better understand the gender issues impacting your workplace, and perhaps your life more broadly.

Do you want to:

  • ensure equity in pay and opportunity (especially if you are a manager)
  • understand changing work relationship etiquette
  • deal appropriately with low-level, casual harassment
  • assess your workplace culture and policies to support more equitable practices

“With Jude facilitating, it is amazing how quickly one gets to the heart of things, leading to immediate results and change. As someone who is naturally change resistant, I have found it easy to set goals and begin enacting positive change after completing my sessions. Jude is a skilled, understanding and talented practitioner who offers the right amount of support and guidance to enable people to take charge of their own path.”

“I had achieved certain successes in my career but had wondered why there was little satisfaction in them. Jude helped me understand why, as well as the root causes for my preferred ways of operating, and how to rise above them – to choose different ways of being and acting. I also learnt that I have strengths of which I wasn’t taking full advantage. Think Act Relate has set me on a path of ongoing growth and expansion.”

“Jude has been a true inspiration. She is a strong and gentle woman, with the right mix between assertive and loving in her communications with me.”

“Jude creates an environment that I can speak into and be heard. She listens to me in such a way that I can explore my own thoughts and ideas fully without judgement or second-guessing myself. She is like a clearing in the middle of a forest where I can go for clarity and insight.”

“Jude has helped me embrace and be proud of who I am, and to “own” the things I have experienced to get me to this point. She showed true grace in opening my eyes to my Achilles heels, and working with me to lay down a plan for addressing them.”

“Jude has ground shaking / shattering incisive viewpoints.”

“Jude was excellent and she was able to distill my motivators and drivers succinctly … AND reassure me of my positive attributes and strengths going forward. She was discrete in her approach at very sensitive and emotional points. Excellent listener and provided such clarity. Would have no hesitations in recommending her.”

“Jude was really good at picking up on the undercurrents of what made me who I am … the top level stuff you usually know about, but change often depends upon what’s below the surface.”

“Jude is a very patient woman, caring, sensitive and graceful.”
